Delightful ride along the shore from Oxnard to Santa Monica. To round out our California experience, there was an earthquake as we were packing up in the morning!
Our first hour and a half was with a fellow cyclist, Dustin who moved right along and helped us increase our average speed for the day.
We even had a close up encounter with a migrating gray whale just off the Malibu beach -- quite a sighting! Look carefully and you can see the whale's back...
We stayed with Michelle and Damon, Carter and Beckett in Santa Monica for two nights and had some fun family time and meals.
Played golf one day with another Deer Isle couple, Myron and MaryLou, and then visited Tastemade with Steven, and later saw Steven, Sal, Oliver and Lola for a glass of wine in the evening and a tour of their house under construction. It felt like being home among all the Kydd's!
Left the next morning and had a perfect 25 mile ride on a bike path all the way from Santa Monica to Palos Verdes.
Went along Venice Bach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Rodondo Beach. Every day is sunny and 80 degrees!
We are staying tonight in a lovely home 900 feet above the Pacific. It is a bit hazy today, so we can't see the islands, but still spectacular. Anette Jaquette is our gracious host; David is off on a river rafting adventure.
We have been fortunate with our house stays this year. We will leave early tomorrow and should make it to San Diego in two days.
Anne is feeling better and getting stronger each day -- good news!
